New Brunswick, N.J. – DIGroup Architecture (DIG) recently joined more than 50 companies, organizations and individuals being celebrated at the Inaugural Empowering Women 2023 Awards. The flagship event was held at the Doubletree by Hilton Somerset in Somerset, NJ, to recognize those who have demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting and elevating women in New Jersey.
Hosted by NJBIZ, the Empowering Women Award program is designed to showcase tangible and innovative efforts in business to advance women in the workplace and community. To be considered, honorees must have a documented track record of recruiting, hiring and promoting women within their organization. Other important criteria include a mentoring program for women, working toward systemic change in society to combat inequality and supporting programs to assist marginalized women.
At the awards reception, DIG’s Principal Swarupa Samant (right) accepted the honor on behalf of the firm from Kirsten Rasky, NJBIZ’s account executive (left). DIG was selected for its advancement of creativity, vision and passion rooted in its own diversity and inclusion of women and people of color.
Founded on the premise of collaboration, consensus building and creating equity for all through physical space, DIG subscribes to the axiom “Architecture for Change” – a philosophy that applies to the built environment, its talented team and the creation of career pathways through in-house and community-based mentoring. In addition, the firm and its talented professionals are committed to lifting up the region’s underserved populations and giving back to the neighborhoods in which its projects are located.
“At DIG and as an MBE/DBE/SBE-certified firm, we firmly believe that through transformative designs and inclusionary business practices it is possible to connect people, improve lives and enrich and strengthen communities,” said Samant. “This is at the core of who we are.”
