LYONS, NJ [July 10, 2025] – Demonstrating a profound spirit of service and civic leadership, Linda Julien and Lilla Vinci of Resource Realty of Northern New Jersey (RRNNJ) recently participated in Community Hope’s 24th Annual 5K Run and 1-Mile Walk at the Lyons Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center. Their involvement offered a meaningful way to honor the nation’s veterans and their families.

The event, held on the scenic grounds of the Lyons VA, welcomed walkers and runners from across the community, all gathering to recognize and express gratitude to those who have served and are currently serving in the nation’s armed forces. For Julien, RRNNJ’s office manager, the walk held personal significance, adding a deeply moving dimension to the team’s participation.

“We’re a military family, so supporting our veterans is close to my heart,” she said. Her late father-in-law, Michael W. Nieberding, served two tours in Vietnam as an Army Ranger, Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP) special forces unit and ended his service with a rank of Lt. Colonel.  He was deployed for his second tour to help repel the 1968 Tet Offensive.

In addition, her sons Erich and Matthew have followed in his footsteps. After attending the United States Naval Academy, Erich was commissioned as a Marine Corps fighter pilot and later earned a second set of wings as a drone pilot. He finished his service with a rank of Captain. Matthew, who was also commissioned as a pilot upon graduation from the University of Pittsburgh Army ROTC program, is currently a Captain serving in support of the Pennsylvania National Guard Air Calvary, following a recent deployment in the Middle East.

Joined by her husband Tom and her colleague Vinci, Julien shared that walking in the Community Hope’s annual fundraiser on the VA campus and seeing residents waving flags while cheering on participants was a moving reminder of why events like this matter. “It was truly a privilege to walk for them,” she said.
