Firm’s Longevity is Rooted in Relationships in One of the Nation’s Most-Competitive Markets
Parsippany, NJ [February 20, 2025] – Resource Realty of Northern New Jersey (RRNNJ) isn’t just marking another year in commercial real estate; the brokerage firm is celebrating 35 years of success in one of the most building-dense, competitive markets in the nation. And in an industry where trust and collaboration are currency, the Parsippany, NJ-based firm’s longevity speaks volumes.
Since its inception in 1990, Tom Consiglio, SIOR, has led RRNNJ to focus on long-term partnerships and institutional-grade market expertise. This approach has enabled the firm to transform from a small operation occupying 2,525 SF in Fairfield to a premier advisory firm in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. And thanks to the SIOR designation of its current four principals, the firm helps clients achieve their commercial real estate goals regionally, nationally and globally.
“I didn’t want to build a firm just known for brokering deals,” said Consiglio, who noted the firm’s earliest branding touted building relationships one step at a time – using visuals of stairs highlighting key transactions. “I envisioned something more meaningful, something that went beyond transactions and remain as committed to this axiom today as I was from day one.”
According to Consiglio, the start-up was founded as part of a collaborative consortium of three like-minded, independently owned and operated firms in one of the worst recessionary periods for commercial real estate. Thanks to agility and resilience, RRNNJ has consistently adapted to several other economic downturns and a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic while staying true to its core values.
History Rooted in Community, Market Expertise
“It is our community and market expertise that has fed Resource Realty’s expansion by building lasting relationships,” he said. Through the years, the firm’s client roster has included The Children’s Place, Amscan, Inc., Bayer, Amazing Savings, Campmor and Laura Ashley, and continues to include companies such as UPS.
As a result of these long-term partnerships and a focus on Northern New Jersey’s dynamic market, the RRNNJ team has been able to consistently deliver custom, creative solutions that meet the highly individual needs of its clients. This formula has ensured RRNNJ’s success regardless of the state of the market.
“We’ve always believed in putting our clients first,” said Scott Peck, who joined RRNNJ at its inception as a senior vice president and is now a principal. “Our business is all about understanding the unique needs of every client, their long-term goals and finding solutions unique to them that truly align with their vision.”
Thanks to its continued growth, firm leadership took the industry adage “location, location, location” to heart and relocated to Parsippany in 2000, at the U.S. Route 46/I-80/I-287 crossroads. The move coincided with RRNNJ’s strategy to cast a wider net into New York State. Subsequent transactions on behalf of Amscan at Enterprise Drive in Newburgh and a series of leases and sales totaling over 2MSF, including a 887,000-SF build-to-suit property in Chester, NY, followed.
“Our success is intertwined with the success of the businesses that drive our local economy,” said Greg Sabato, a principal at the firm he joined in 2007. “We are committed to fostering a thriving business environment and contributing to the overall economic growth of our region.”
Mentorship & Comraderie Attracts Top Talent, Fosters Loyalty
RRNNJ’s client-centric approach extends well beyond individual transactions. The firm fosters a collaborative environment, encouraging communication and teamwork among its team members. This emphasis on a strong internal culture has not only attracted top talent but also fostered a sense of loyalty and camaraderie within the organization.
“With Tom as the driving force, Resource Realty has always had a family-first atmosphere,” said Brian Wilson, principal, who joined the firm in 2007. “He genuinely cares about the team, and that’s something you don’t find in every workplace. Fortunately, when I was new to commercial real estate, I had Tom as my mentor and he made sure I had his support – and still do – especially in the early years.”
To ensure its steady upward trajectory, RRNNJ laid the groundwork for the company’s future with the naming of Sabato, Wilson and Peck as principals last fall. Each holds SIOR designation and has risen through the ranks of Resource Realty, embodying the core values that have driven the firm’s success through the years.
“Resource Realty’s story is still being written,” said Consiglio. “We’ve laid a strong foundation, and I’m incredibly excited to see what comes next. The future is bright.”
